Sophie McCartney, aka Tired and Tested, is a stand-up comedian, podcaster and double No 1 Sunday Times bestselling author.

Propelled towards internet stardom in 2017 for a mum parody of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’, Sophie was an early adopter of social media which resulted in a cult following of adoring fans. Since her first viral video, Sophie has made a big splash online and on stage, rolling out from her living room to filling theatres with her riotous and hilarious stand-up comedy shows across the world. Sophie is loved for her down-to-earth, no holds-barred approach to parenting and life as a millennial. Her current tour ‘One Foot in the Rave’ has been praised by publications such as The Guardian, Daily Mail and Daily Mirror to name just a few. 

Liverpool-born mum of three Sophie was awarded the prestigious ‘Funny Women Award’ for ‘Best Comedy Series 2020’ as voted for by the British public. She also features on the Mother & Baby ‘Mum List 2021’ as the funniest mum on Instagram. Sophie released her first non-fiction book, ‘Tired & Tested: The Wild Ride into Parenthood’ in February 2022 which went straight in at number ONE in the Sunday Times Bestsellers List and was shortlisted for a prestigious ‘Book of the year’ Award.  Her first fiction novel ‘Mother Hens’ followed suit and becoming an instant No.1 bestseller when it launched in March 2023.

Sophie announced her debut stand up tour ‘Tired and Tested’ in March 2023 which sold out in less that 24 hours, making it Live Nation’s fastest selling debut tour for a female comedian…ever. Due to extraordinary demand, the tour was extended from 15 dates to 63 dates in the UK. After an incredible response from UK fans, Sophie debuted her first international leg of the tour in Australia and New Zealand where she performed to delighted fans in Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.  

Sophie is host of her own podcast, Tired and Tested, which flew into number 5 of the UK comedy charts on release and has been dubbed Mother & Baby’s number one podcast. Following on from the incredible success of Mother Hens, she is currently penning her second fiction novel which is due to be published early 2026.
